Double Page Spread Interview
‘I believe I can be the next best thing, Each day I become more determined and more creative my mind is a never ending river with unique ideas flowing through my mind’
When did you become interested in making Dubstep?
When I was about 15 I was listening to the radio, quite late at about midnight and for an hour Dubstep was taking over the station. I hadn’t heard that type of music before and because of the unusual mix of sound effects and heavy bass I immediately took an interest to Dubstep, so i downloaded mixing software and began to make music.
Who was your inspiration in life, musical or not?
Anyone who became someone out of nothing. They showed desire to make something of their life and showed that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. People like them pushed me mentally, they made me believe I could be someone and eventually, slowly and gradually I’m becoming that someone.
As an upcoming star do you have much pressure or support from your family?
When I first started out I didn’t expect to be as good as I am, my parent thought it was a hobby and I kept it quiet that I was pursuing a dream. As I progressed and done my first gig my parents realised it was more than a hobby and they tried to discourage me from pursuing a job which leads to a ‘road to nowhere.’ As I done a few more gigs my parents realised that I was actually quite a good DJ and since then their confidence in me pursuing this dream has grown, and they are now fully confident that I will become all that I can be.
Did your roots help to give you such a creative mind when it comes to music?
When I was younger my future was painted for me. Living at home for years on end, dead end jobs, going nowhere noticed by no one, I was expected to be a no body. But that was expected from everybody growing up in a concrete jungle. This is where my desire to be somebody came from; I wanted to be different and noticed. When I first started out my music was about my hometown, my music told a story the sounds came from my mind and to me they spoke. I guess that’s why my music is so unique and ultimately that’s why people enjoy it.
What are your musical plans for the near future?
I’ve actually got a gig coming up in Cambridge in January. Tickets are on sale next week. I’m really excited about it, it’s my first real gig, and it’s not in a pub or night club, It’s a proper music event and although people are there to have a good time they have paid to see me and listen to my music, for which I am very grateful for.
What is the release date for the album: ‘All or nothing’?
Next month, i've been working on it for a while now and i’ve got a few surprise collaborations with some well known stars both within my genre of music and some artists that will be performing with me in my upcoming gig.
